A Japanese navy ship on Wednesday failed to shoot down a mid-range ballistic missile target in a test off the coast of the Hawaii. It was only the second time Japan had attempted to shoot down a ballistic missile from a ship at sea. (Nov. 20)
Many Asian markets fell on Thursday, following the lead set on Wednesday by Wall Street. Japan's Nikkei fell more than six percent, while Hong Kong's Hang Seng fell more than five percent. (Nov. 20)

A large building under construction burning to the ground outside of Los Angeles on Tuesday night. The flames and smoke could be seen for miles. There were no reports of any injuries. (Nov. 19)

Yahoo, Inc. Founder and CEO Jerry Yang has announced he will step down, once the company finds a suitable replacement. Yang developed Yahoo back in the 1990's. He is expected to remain on the internet company's board of directors. (Nov. 18)
A Pakistani woman accused of trying to kill a U.S. soldier and FBI agents while in custody in Afghanistan has been deemed unfit to stand trial. The evaluation concludd Aafia Siddiqui is unable to understand the nature of the court proceedings. (Nov. 18)
The search continued on Monday for 17 construction workers, after a subway tunnel collapsed in eastern China. Four construction workers are confirmed dead. (Nov. 17)
Thanks to better weather, California firefighters are making progress on three major wildfires still burning around Los Angeles. The cause of all three is still under investigation. (Nov. 17)

Alaska Democratic Senate candidate Mark Begich has now taken the lead in his race against Republican Sen. Ted Stevens. After counting some of the absentee and early votes, Begich is in the lead by 814 votes. (Nov. 13)
There were more indictments handed down on Wednesday against members of a polygamist sect that was the focus of a massive raid in west Texas last spring. In all four members of the FLDS church now face eight new indictments. (Nov. 13)

Australia's Taronga Zoo in Sydney recently showed off its latest addition, a baby pygmy hippo. Monifa, who is only three weeks old, is currently the size of a puppy. There are less than 3,000 pygmy hippos remaining in the world. (Nov. 7)
